Planning a funeral can bring lots of questions. Here are answers to the things families most often ask about creating a funeral slideshow with Drift & Flow.
Helpful Answers Before You Begin
Questions are completely normal.
Planning a memorial tribute is something most people have never done before. Whether you're wondering about photographs, music, timing or simply where to begin, we're here to gently guide you every step of the way.
From photos and music to timing, delivery and support, we make the process feel simpler and more manageable.
Funeral Slide Show Frequently Asked Questions
Use the sections below to jump straight to the answers you need, whether you're choosing a collection, preparing photos, selecting music or wondering what happens next.
Getting Started
-
Firstly, please know that feeling overwhelmed is completely normal.
Planning a funeral often means making many important decisions in a short period of time, and creating a funeral slideshow can feel like one more thing to think about.
The good news is you don't need to have everything organised before contacting us.
Simply let us know when the service is being held and tell us a little about the person you're remembering. We'll guide you through the process one step at a time and explain exactly what we'll need and when we'll need it.
You don't have to do everything at once.
-
We've designed our process to be as simple and stress-free as possible.
Get in touch and tell us about the service and the person you're remembering.
Choose your collection and we'll explain what photographs, music and memories to send.
We'll create your funeral slideshow and send you a preview to review.
Request any included revisions, then we'll prepare the final slideshow ready for the service.
We'll keep you informed throughout the process, so you'll always know what happens next.
-
Every funeral is different, so turnaround times depend on the service date, the collection you choose and how quickly photographs, music and information can be provided.
If the funeral is approaching soon, please contact us as early as possible.
Where availability allows, we may be able to accommodate urgent requests through our Priority Delivery service. If we don't believe we can create your slideshow to the standard your loved one deserves within the available time, we'll always be honest with you.
-
No.
Many families contact us before they've gathered photographs or decided on music.
That's absolutely fine.
Getting in touch early gives us more time to guide you through the process and helps ensure your funeral slideshow can be completed before the service.
We'll let you know exactly what we need and when we need it.
-
Absolutely.
Most of the families we work with have never organised a funeral slideshow before.
We'll explain each step in plain language, answer your questions and guide you through choosing photographs, music and memories.
Our aim is to make the process feel calm, clear and manageable during what is often a very emotional time.
-
Many families begin with the intention of creating the funeral slideshow themselves.
As the funeral approaches, however, they often discover they simply don't have the time or emotional energy to bring everything together while also supporting family, organising the service and managing everything else that needs their attention.
Drift & Flow takes care of the creative work, transforming your photographs, music and memories into a professionally designed funeral slideshow that reflects the person being remembered.
This allows you to focus on your family, knowing the slideshow is being created with care, attention and respect.
Choosing the Right Collection
-
Every family remembers someone differently, which is why we've created three funeral slideshow collections.
Soft Drift is ideal for families wanting something simple, elegant and beautifully understated.
Reflections is our most popular collection and includes more personal storytelling, memory cards and written reflections throughout the slideshow.
Evermore is our most comprehensive collection, designed for families wanting to preserve treasured stories, family sayings, personal memories and optional voice recordings as part of a lasting legacy.
If you're unsure which collection is right, we're always happy to help you choose based on the person you're remembering, your photographs and the type of service you're planning.
-
Every collection is professionally created with the same level of care and attention to detail. The difference is how deeply you'd like to tell their story.
Soft Drift
A simple, elegant funeral slideshow using photographs and music to gently honour a life.Reflections
Adds written memories, chaptered storytelling and more personal moments throughout the slideshow.Evermore
Our most personalised collection, weaving together photographs, treasured sayings, family stories, reflections and optional voice recordings to create a lasting legacy. Many families find it helpful to think less about the number of features and more about the person being remembered. Which collection best reflects who they were?
-
Absolutely.
Choosing between the collections can feel difficult when you're also planning a funeral.
If you're unsure, simply tell us a little about the person you're remembering and we'll recommend the collection we feel is the best fit.
We'll consider things like:
the number of photographs you have
whether you'd like written memories included
if preserving family stories is important
your available timeframe
your budget
There's no pressure to choose before contacting us. We're happy to guide you.
-
No, and that's exactly how it should be.
Our preview videos demonstrate the style, pacing and storytelling of each collection, but every funeral slideshow we create is completely personalised using your own photographs, music, memories and family stories.
Rather than copying the preview, we use it to show you the overall feel of each collection while ensuring your slideshow reflects the unique life and personality of the person being remembered.
-
Sometimes families begin with one collection and later decide they'd like to include more photographs, written memories or personal storytelling.
Where work has not progressed too far, we'll happily discuss upgrading your collection.
If you're unsure from the beginning, please let us know. We'll help you choose the most suitable option before production starts.
-
Not necessarily.
The right collection isn't about choosing the highest-priced option. It's about choosing the one that feels most like the person you're remembering.
Many beautiful funeral slideshows are created using Soft Drift because the family wants something simple and elegant.
Others choose Reflections because the memories behind the photographs are an important part of the story.
Families often choose Evermore when preserving treasured stories, family sayings and personal legacy is especially meaningful.
Every collection is thoughtfully created with the same care and attention. The difference is simply how much storytelling and personal detail you'd like to include.
-
Every family is different, but Reflections is our most popular collection because it offers a balance of beautiful photography, meaningful storytelling and personal memories.
Families who want something simple and understated often choose Soft Drift, while those wanting to preserve stories, treasured sayings and a lasting family legacy often choose Evermore.
Rather than asking which collection is "best", we encourage families to think about which one feels most like the person they're remembering.
Still Unsure which collection is right?
You don't have to decide on your own. Tell us a little about the person you're remembering, and we'll recommend the collection that we believe will honour their life most beautifully.
Photos & Memories
-
Many families worry they don't have enough photographs, but you don't need hundreds of images to create something meaningful.
As a general guide:
Soft Drift: Around 20–30 photographs
Reflections: Around 40–60 photographs
Evermore: Around 60–80 photographs
These are simply guides. Every family is different, and we're happy to work with smaller collections if they tell the story well.
The most meaningful funeral slideshows aren't created by the number of photographs, but by the memories they represent.
-
No.
You don't need to sort your photographs into folders, rename files or arrange them in date order before sending them.
Many families simply upload everything they have.
We'll organise the photographs into a natural flow and let you know if we need any clarification along the way.
If there are photographs you definitely want included, or others you'd prefer not to use, simply let us know.
-
Yes, provided they have been scanned into a digital format before being uploaded.
Many of the most treasured memories come from older family photographs, and they often become some of the most meaningful images in a funeral slideshow.
For the best results, we recommend scanning printed photographs at a high resolution before uploading them to your client portal. If you don't have access to a scanner, many local photo stores, Officeworks stores and libraries offer photo scanning services.
Once your photographs have been scanned and saved as digital files, simply upload them along with your other images.
If some older photographs are faded or slightly damaged, we'll do our best to make minor improvements to brightness, colour and clarity where possible.
-
You can upload photographs from your phone, digital camera or other digital devices. As long as the images can be uploaded to your client portal, we'll take care of the rest.
-
Please don't worry.
Older photographs are often faded, scratched or not as sharp as modern images, and that's completely normal.
Where possible, we'll make minor improvements to brightness, colour and clarity to help the photograph look its best within the slideshow.
Sometimes imperfections are simply part of the memory, and they often add to the authenticity of the tribute.
If a photograph requires more extensive restoration, we'll discuss the available options with you before proceeding.
-
That's perfectly okay.
Many families are working with photographs that span decades, and it's completely normal not to know every date, location or the names of every person in each image.
We'll work with the information you can provide and won't expect you to identify every photograph.
If there's something we're unsure about, we'll simply ask.
-
Yes, and many families find this creates an even more meaningful funeral slideshow.
Family members can contribute:
Photographs
Stories and memories
Personal reflections
Favourite sayings
Special moments
Music suggestions
Bringing together memories from different generations often creates a richer and more personal tribute that reflects the many relationships throughout someone's life.
-
Please don't let that stop you from getting in touch.
A beautiful funeral slideshow doesn't depend on having hundreds of photographs.
If you have a smaller collection, we can thoughtfully pace the slideshow and, depending on the collection you choose, incorporate written memories, family stories or meaningful reflections to help tell the person's story.
Some of the most moving tributes we've created have used only a modest number of carefully chosen photographs.
-
The best funeral slideshows usually include a mix of photographs that tell the story of a life.
You might include:
Childhood and younger years
Family celebrations
Weddings and anniversaries
Holidays and favourite places
Everyday moments at home
Time with children, grandchildren and friends
Hobbies, interests and achievements
Recent photographs that reflect who they were later in life
You don't need to include every stage of their life. Choose the photographs that make you smile, bring back memories or immediately remind you of the person they were.
Don’t worry if your photographs aren’t perfect
Don't worry if your photographs aren't perfect.
The most meaningful funeral slideshows are created from genuine memories, not perfect pictures. If you're unsure what to include, we'll happily guide you.
Music
-
Absolutely.
Many families already have songs in mind that remind them of the person they're remembering. These might be favourite artists, meaningful songs, hymns or instrumental pieces.
Simply upload your own digital music file through your client portal and we'll incorporate it into your funeral slideshow wherever possible.
If you're unsure whether a song is suitable or have questions about the length, just ask. We're always happy to help.
-
That's completely normal.
Choosing music can feel difficult, especially during an emotional time.
If you're unsure, we can suggest ideas based on the person's personality, interests or the style of service you're planning.
Some families choose:
A favourite song
Gentle instrumental music
A meaningful hymn
Classical music
A song that reflects their personality or life
There isn't a right or wrong choice. The best music is simply the music that feels right for the person you're remembering.
-
Yes, if you have a digital copy of the song available to upload.
Many families choose music that held special meaning for the person being remembered, whether it was a favourite artist, a song from their wedding, something they loved to sing along to or music that simply reminds the family of them.
Using a favourite song often makes the funeral slideshow feel even more personal and meaningful.
-
Each collection includes a set number of songs as part of the slideshow.
If you'd like to include additional songs, this can usually be arranged as an optional add-on.
If you're unsure how many songs would suit your slideshow, we're happy to provide guidance based on the number of photographs and the overall length of the tribute.
-
No.
We'll professionally edit the music so it fits naturally with the flow and timing of your funeral slideshow.
Where appropriate, songs may be gently faded or adjusted to create a smooth and respectful viewing experience.
Our goal is for the music to feel like a natural part of the slideshow, rather than ending too early or continuing after the final photograph.
-
Absolutely.
Every funeral service is different, and we welcome all styles of music that reflect the person being remembered.
Families often choose:
Favourite songs
Hymns
Instrumental pieces
Classical music
Contemporary music
Cultural or traditional music
The most important thing is choosing music that feels personal and appropriate for the service.
-
This is more common than many people realise.
If there are different opinions, we're happy to help you consider what best reflects the person being remembered and the style of service you're planning.
Sometimes one meaningful song is all that's needed. In other cases, adding a second music selection may provide an opportunity to include another favourite or represent different parts of their life.
Our role is to help you create a funeral slideshow that feels balanced, respectful and true to the person being honoured.
-
That's completely understandable.
Music often becomes one of the most emotional parts of a funeral slideshow because it brings back memories in a way photographs alone sometimes can't.
It's perfectly normal to find choosing a song difficult or emotional.
If you're struggling to decide, take your time. We can also help you choose something that feels appropriate and reflects the person you're remembering.
-
You're welcome to choose any music that is meaningful to your loved one, provided you have the legal right to use it.
To include music in your funeral slideshow, you'll need to upload your own digital music file through your client portal. This is the client's responsibility and helps ensure the appropriate rights have been obtained for the music being supplied.
If you're unsure how to obtain a digital copy of a song, or have questions before uploading your music, please get in touch. We're happy to point you in the right direction.
-
For the best results, please upload your music as a digital audio file, such as an MP3 file.
If you're unsure whether your music file is suitable, simply upload it through your client portal. If there are any issues with the file format or quality, we'll let you know before production begins.
During Production
-
Once we've received everything needed to begin, we'll carefully review your photographs, music and the information you've shared.
We'll then begin creating your funeral slideshow, thoughtfully arranging your images, music and memories into a tribute that reflects the person you're remembering.
If we need clarification about anything during production, we'll contact you before moving forward.
-
Yes.
Every funeral slideshow includes a preview before final delivery.
This gives you the opportunity to carefully watch the slideshow, check names, dates, photographs and written content, and make sure everything feels right before the final version is prepared.
We encourage you to take your time during this review, as it's your opportunity to ensure the slideshow reflects your loved one as you intended.
-
Absolutely.
Each collection includes a number of revision rounds:
Soft Drift: 1 minor revision round
Reflections: 2 minor revision rounds
Evermore: 3 minor revision rounds
Minor revisions may include correcting names or dates, replacing photographs, updating written wording or making other small content changes. Requests that substantially alter the structure, length or creative direction of the slideshow may be considered major changes and may incur additional charges. If this occurs, we'll always discuss it with you before any additional work begins.
If you require significant changes after the slideshow has been created, additional charges may apply. We'll always discuss this with you before any additional work is undertaken.
-
This happens quite often, and we'll always do our best to help.
If production is still in its early stages, we can usually include additional photographs or memories within your included revision rounds, provided they fit within your chosen collection.
If the additional content significantly changes the structure or requires extensive rebuilding of the slideshow, we'll discuss the available options with you before proceeding.
Our goal is always to create the best possible tribute while being transparent about any additional work involved.
-
No.
Our preview videos demonstrate the style, pacing and overall feel of each collection, but every funeral slideshow we create is completely personalised.
Your slideshow will be created using your own photographs, music, memories and personal details, making it unique to the person being remembered.
The preview simply shows the style of storytelling and design you can expect from that collection.
-
Yes.
If we notice missing information, duplicate photographs, unclear names, missing music or anything else that may affect your funeral slideshow, we'll contact you before finalising the project.
Our aim is to make the process as smooth as possible while ensuring the final slideshow accurately reflects the person you're remembering.
-
Yes.
Provided all required photographs, music and information have been received within the agreed timeframe, your preview will be delivered before the funeral, allowing time for your included revisions before the final slideshow is supplied.
Because funeral services are time-sensitive, we encourage families to provide everything as early as possible. This helps ensure there's enough time for review and any requested changes before the service.
-

Delivery
-
Yes, if you'd like us to.
Simply let us know during your project and provide your funeral director's or celebrant's contact details. We'll send the approved final slideshow directly to them on your behalf.
It is your responsibility to check with the funeral director before the service they have received the project and it is adequate for the service.
-
Our goal is always to deliver your completed funeral slideshow before the funeral service, allowing time for your included review and final approval.
To achieve this, it's important that photographs, music and any requested information are provided by the agreed deadlines.
If materials are received later than requested, or significant information is still outstanding, there may not be enough time to complete the slideshow before the service. If this happens, we'll discuss the situation with you honestly and let you know what is possible based on the time remaining.
We encourage families to get in touch as early as possible. The more time we have to create your slideshow, the more opportunity there is for thoughtful design, review and any included revisions before the service.
-
Your completed slideshow will be supplied as a high-quality MP4 video file.
This is the format most commonly requested by funeral homes and is compatible with the majority of modern audiovisual systems.
If your funeral director has specific requirements, please let us know as early as possible.
-
Yes.
We always recommend downloading your final slideshow and watching it through from beginning to end before the funeral service.
This allows you to confirm everything has downloaded correctly and gives you peace of mind before the day.
If your funeral director is playing the slideshow, it's also a good idea to confirm they've successfully received the file.
-
Your client portal and download links will remain available for 60 days after final delivery.
During this time, you can access your completed slideshow and any project materials available through your client portal.
After this period, your client portal may be unpublished and project files may be removed in accordance with our Terms & Conditions.
We recommend downloading and securely storing your final slideshow as soon as possible.
-
We recommend downloading and backing up your slideshow as soon as you receive it.
While we may be able to assist if you contact us within the client portal access period, we cannot guarantee that project files will be retained after your client portal has been archived.
For this reason, we strongly encourage families to save multiple copies of their slideshow in different locations, such as a computer, external hard drive or cloud storage.
-
Absolutely.
Your funeral slideshow becomes a lasting keepsake that can be watched and shared with family and friends long after the service has taken place.
Many families continue to revisit the slideshow on birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions as a way of remembering and celebrating the person they love.

Beginning production after payment helps us dedicate our time to creating your slideshow and ensures your place in our production schedule.
-
Payment is currently accepted by bank transfer.
Payment details will be provided on your invoice once your booking has been confirmed.
Work on the tribute does not commence until payment has been received and cleared in Drift & Flow’s bank account.
If you have any questions about payment, please don't hesitate to contact us before booking.
-
We will do our best to accommodate your request where possible.
Sometimes families begin with one collection and later decide they'd like to include more photographs, written memories or storytelling.
Where production has not progressed too far, we'll happily discuss upgrading your collection.
If there is any additional cost, we'll explain this before making any changes.
-
Because every funeral slideshow is individually created and time-sensitive, refunds are assessed in accordance with our Terms & Conditions.
If you need to cancel your booking before work has commenced, please contact us as soon as possible.
If production has already begun, any refund will depend on the stage of the project and the work already completed.
We always aim to approach these situations with understanding and fairness, while recognising the custom nature of every slideshow we create.
-
Every Drift & Flow funeral slideshow is individually created using your own photographs, music, memories and personal details.
Unlike automated slideshow software or templates, each collection is thoughtfully designed by hand, with careful attention given to photo selection, pacing, music, written content and overall storytelling.
The time invested in every slideshow allows us to create something that feels personal, respectful and unique to the person being remembered.
Rather than paying for a video, you're investing in a professionally crafted tribute that helps celebrate a life and becomes a lasting keepsake for family and friends.
-
Every family tells a story differently. Rather than charging for every individual photograph, we've created collections based on the level of storytelling and creative work involved. This allows you to choose the approach that best reflects the person you're remembering, while keeping pricing simple and transparent.
You don't have to have everything organised before getting in touch.
We'll gently guide you through photographs, music and the next steps, one step at a time.
